The Sport Ireland Campus Athletic Academy is a 10 Week Athletic Programme that will roll throughout the calendar year. Held in the world class National Indoor Athletics Training Centre the specifically designed training programmes will focus on the athletic fundamentals of running, jumping and throwing.

The Sport Ireland Campus Athletics Academy is held in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Athletics Training Centre which is the home for indoor athletics in Ireland. The facility is used by Ireland's elite athletes as they prepare for international events.

This facility gives your child access to the best facilities available in Ireland to improve their athletic ability under the guidance of our expert coaches.

Top Class Coaching

The Sport Ireland Campus Athletics Academy is run by a dedicated and experienced coaching team. This team work closely with the children in the academy to improve their athletic ability under the guidance of the Sport Ireland Campus Head of Athletics, two time Olympian, and Irish record holder, David Matthews.

David made a seamless transition from a world-class sports competitor to a world-class coach, working with Athletics Ireland for the last 5 years as a development officer. A Level 2 coach and a qualified tutor from coaching Ireland David has used the experience garnered from competing and coaching at world-class level to develop new and innovative Athletic Programmes in the NIA arena.

NIA Athletics Pathway Programme

 

  • Little Athletics: For 2 - 6 year olds working on their ABC fundamentals agility, balance and co-ordination as well as the athletic fundamentals running, jumping and throwing. Upon graduation from Little Athletics the child enters the NIA Athletics Pathway Programme.

  • Level 1: For 6-7 year-olds who have graduated from “Little Athletics”.

  • Level 2: For 8 - 9 year-olds who have progressed from level 1 after completing the necessary Competency Challenges.

  • Level 3: For 9-11 year-olds who have progressed from level 2 after completing the necessary Competency Challenges.

  • Level 4: For 9-14 year-olds who have progressed from level 3 after completing the necessary Competency Challenge

 

Class: 55 minute class includes hurdles, long jump, high jump, sprints, relays, distance/stamina work, race walking, shot put, javelin
