The Sport Ireland National Sports Campus is delighted to be home to the fantastic ‘Ability Counts’ initiative which sees Down Syndrome Ireland join with Celtic FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club, to deliver their very successful activity project for young people and adults with Down syndrome. 

​The programme provides activities and games with the aims of developing participant’s communication, coordination and social skills through physical activity and increased interaction with peers.
Physical activity & social integration have been identified as one of the critical success factors in the overall well-being of people with Down syndrome and ‘Ability Counts’ achieves both. 

​At the launch of Ability Counts Ireland, Gary Owens, Down Syndrome Ireland CEO, said: “We are delighted to partner with Celtic FC Foundation to bring their Ability Counts programme to Ireland. The programme has been very successful in Glasgow and provides a great framework for social integration while delivering tailored programs to get our members physically active.”
The Sport Ireland National Sports Campus is delighted that these organisations have chosen the world-class facilities available here to host this programme in Ireland.

The programme runs every is held in the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus every Monday from 5pm-7pm for ages 5-18 and every Tuesday from 10am to 12 for ages 18 and over.
